WELL-BEING
Strengthen Every Life
We help people live healthier, safer, and more stable lives.
One Valley Foundation supports programs that help individuals and families throughout the Coachella Valley live healthier, safer, more active, and more stable lives. Our Well-Being work includes Access to Hockey & Sport, Mental & Emotional Well-Being, Food Security & Basic Needs, Housing Stability & Homelessness, and Active Living & Youth Development.
Access to Hockey built our foundation and remains a flagship initiative, using the power of sport to promote movement, confidence, teamwork, resilience, and belonging. Through this expanded framework and trusted local partnerships, we are building on that success to help more people access the support, stability, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Access to Hockey & Sport
Through Access to Hockey & Sport, One Valley Foundation removes financial, logistical, and cultural barriers that can prevent young people and families from participating. Our programs and partnerships create welcoming entry points into hockey and other recreational activities while promoting movement, confidence, teamwork, resilience, and belonging. This work includes:
-
- Youth hockey development
- Equipment and fee assistance
- Learn-to-skate and introductory programs
- School ball hockey
- Basketball and recreational access
- Adaptive and inclusive sport
- Ticket access
Ball Hockey Across the Valley
One Valley Foundation is working to bring ball hockey to all 15 middle schools across the Coachella Valley. Through hands-on school activations, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of hockey in a fun, accessible environment that promotes movement, teamwork, confidence, and belonging.
But the experience will not end when the activation is over. The Foundation plans to leave sticks, nets, balls, and other equipment with each school so ball hockey can become an ongoing part of physical education and student recreation.
By removing the need for ice, specialized facilities, and personal equipment, ball hockey gives more local students an opportunity to experience the sport—and gives schools the tools to keep the game growing.
We are not simply introducing students to hockey. We are giving schools the tools to make it last.
Mental & Emotional Well-Being
One Valley Foundation uses the connection created through sports and community to encourage people to look out for one another. We support trusted partners that provide mental and emotional health services, reduce isolation, build resilience, and make checking in a normal part of team, family, and community culture.
This work may include:
-
- Mental and emotional health services
- Youth, adult, and family support
- Suicide prevention
- Programs that reduce isolation
- Resilience and connection
- Check On Your Teammates
Check In. Show Up. Stay Connected.
Mental and emotional well-being often begins with a simple act: noticing when someone may be struggling and taking the time to check in.
Through initiatives such as Check On Your Teammates and partnerships with organizations that promote connection and peer support, One Valley Foundation seeks to make checking in a normal part of team and community culture—not something reserved only for moments of crisis.
By encouraging people to notice, reach out, listen, offer support, and help connect others with additional resources when needed, we can use the power of sports and teamwork to remind people that they do not have to face difficult moments alone.
