EDUCATION
Invest in Every Mind
Listening First. Supporting Every Student.
One Valley Foundation works directly with all three Coachella Valley public school districts to understand where support can make the greatest difference. Through a joint virtual convening, representatives from each district came together to share priorities and help shape a coordinated approach to supporting local students.
From that conversation, the Foundation established an Education Committee made up of representatives from each school district and inclusive of elementary, middle, high, and alternative schools. The committee helps us listen across grade levels, identify shared and distinct needs, and direct resources in ways that are thoughtful, equitable, and locally informed.
We also recognize that education extends beyond the classroom. Nonprofit organizations, workforce partners, arts and music programs, and other youth-serving organizations play an important role in student learning and opportunity. One Valley Foundation seeks to support eligible 501(c)(3) organizations whose work advances our education priorities throughout the Coachella Valley.
Helping Students Learn, Lead and Prepare for the Future
We help local students build the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to succeed. One Valley Foundation supports learning in all its forms—from early literacy and student enrichment to leadership development, inclusive learning, arts and music education, and workforce readiness.
Our Education Focus Areas
Elementary Literacy & Student Engagement
Strong reading skills create a foundation for future learning. We support programs that encourage elementary students to read, stay engaged, build confidence, and develop a positive connection to school.
This work includes Stick to Reading, book distributions, reading incentives, Fuego visits, classroom resources, and student-recognition programs that encourage participation, attendance, and academic engagement.
Middle School Leadership Development
Middle school is an important time for students to develop confidence, character, communication skills, and a sense of belonging. We support programs that use leadership instruction, mentorship, teamwork, recognition, and positive school culture to help students grow.
Sports may be used as a teaching tool for lessons in discipline, resilience, communication, responsibility, and leadership.
Sports can also create opportunities for movement, participation, and active living. Learn more about our Access to Hockey & Sport initiatives.
High School Workforce Pathways
Success after high school can take many forms. We support students pursuing career training, certifications, apprenticeships, skilled trades, vocational education, and other pathways into meaningful employment.
Through partnerships with qualified nonprofit and workforce-development organizations, we seek to help students identify career opportunities, gain practical skills, overcome financial barriers, and prepare for successful entry into the workforce. Scholarships and financial assistance may be used as tools when they directly support an approved education or career pathway.
Inclusive & Adaptive Learning
Every student deserves the opportunity to learn, participate, and reach their potential. We support programs serving students with disabilities, learning differences, and other barriers to educational opportunity.
Our focus is on improving access, independence, confidence, participation, and long-term success through inclusive instruction, adaptive resources, specialized support, and meaningful learning experiences.
Arts & Music Education
Arts and music help students develop creativity, communication, confidence, discipline, and new ways of understanding the world around them.
We support programs that provide meaningful instruction and expand access to visual arts, music, performance, creative expression, and other forms of educational enrichment—particularly for students who may not otherwise have these opportunities.

The Bigger Picture
Education, like hockey, is about more than individual achievement—it’s about showing up for your team, pushing through challenges, and striving for something greater.
By listening directly to educators and supporting trusted nonprofit partners, One Valley Foundation can invest in programs that reflect the real needs of students across the Coachella Valley—from their first experiences with reading to their next steps into adulthood.
